Colin Kaepernick named Muhammad Ali Humanitarian of the Year

The Muhammad Ali Center has named former NFL quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick as its 2026 Humanitarian of the Year. Kaepernick will be honored at the center’s 13th annual awards ceremony, scheduled for November 7 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Lonnie Ali, the co-founder and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center, stated that Kaepernick was selected for his advocacy against racial injustice and his commitment to supporting underserved communities through initiatives such as his Know Your Rights Camp. The organization noted that Kaepernick has used his platform to advocate for equality and social change despite facing significant personal and professional costs.

In a statement, Kaepernick described the recognition as an incredible honor and a responsibility, drawing parallels to Muhammad Ali’s own history of standing by his convictions regardless of the consequences.
