Colin Kaepernick promotes new memoir on activism and identity

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is promoting his new memoir, ‘The Perilous Fight,’ which details his transition from professional football to racial justice activism. The book explores his upbringing in Turlock and his journey of self-discovery regarding his racial identity, which he states informed his decision to protest during the national anthem in 2016.

Kaepernick has remained a polarizing figure since his decision to sit during the anthem to protest systemic racism and police violence. In recent comments made on ‘The Adam Friedland Show,’ he drew further attention by stating he does not believe ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is a good song.
