Collagen Peptides and Urolithin A Supplements Reviewed

Collagen peptides are dietary supplements derived from bovine, porcine or marine sources that aim to replace the body’s declining collagen. They are marketed for skin hydration, wrinkle reduction, joint comfort and bone health, though scientific results remain mixed and individual outcomes may vary.

Urolithin A, offered as Timeline’s Mitopure®, is produced when gut bacteria break down ellagitannins from foods such as pomegranates and berries. The proprietary form is promoted to enhance mitochondrial function by stimulating mitophagy, the cellular process that recycles damaged mitochondria. A placebo‑controlled trial reported that daily 500 mg dosing improved muscle strength over four months without added exercise.

Both articles note that while some studies suggest potential benefits, the evidence is still evolving and consumers should weigh claims against existing research before use.
