Collectif Fatali, Rappel criticizes lack of recognition for Macky Sall

The ‘Collectif Fatali, Rappel’, a group of citizens, has issued a press release criticizing the current Senegalese administration for failing to recognize the institutional legacy of former President Macky Sall.

The collective argues that the principle of state continuity is being neglected during the launch or commissioning of major infrastructure projects. They specifically cited the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, the Nianija Bolong water resource mobilization project, the partial opening of the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh hospital in Tivaouane, and the inauguration of the Mbour-Kaolack highway as examples where Sall’s role as the initiator was not acknowledged by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye or his ministers.

According to the group, acknowledging predecessors is a republican tradition maintained from Léopold Sédar Senghor through to Macky Sall. They stated that such recognition is not about partisan support but is essential for respecting institutional memory and state continuity. The collective has called on the Head of State and public authorities to better integrate this respect for institutional heritage into official communications and ceremonies.
