Collectors find high value in 1990s memorabilia

Collectors are finding significant value in items from the 1990s, ranging from rare coins to trading cards.

In Poland, a specific 2-zloty coin minted in 1994 has become highly sought after by numismatists. While the initial mintage was large, a significant portion of the stock was damaged or destroyed during a flood at the National Bank of Poland's Modlin Fortress in 1997. Consequently, coins in mint condition can now command prices as high as 1,000 PLN.

In a separate instance involving a collection of 1990s trading cards, an anonymous owner discovered that sets stored in an attic for 15 years were worth millions. Following a consultation with the auction house Ewbank’s, 41 of the 42 sets were auctioned to collectors, investors, and YouTubers. Some individual sets reached prices of up to £100,000, marking a record sale for the auction house.
