Colleferro declares mourning following femicide of Joanna Szyszkowska

The town of Colleferro has declared a period of city mourning following the funeral of Joanna Szyszkowska, a 50-year-old woman killed by her husband on August 18. The incident occurred at her home in the presence of her two sons, aged 9 and 21.

To honor her memory, the municipality has ordered flags to be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings. Local companies, including Avio and Italcementi, sounded their sirens to join the community in remembrance.

A candlelight vigil is scheduled to take place starting at 20:30 at Largo San Francesco. The procession will include a stop at the Regina Pacis nursing home before concluding at Piazza Mazzini, serving as a public condemnation of violence against women.
