College football analysts debate SEC and Big Ten playoff dominance

College football analysts are debating the future dominance of the SEC and Big Ten conferences within the College Football Playoff (CFP) landscape. Following a period where the SEC held multiple national titles, the conference has failed to reach the championship game in each of the last three seasons, while the Big Ten has secured the last three trophies.

On the CBS Sports Network, analysts Danny Kanell, Chip Patterson, and Bud Elliott discussed whether the SEC can return to the top. While Kanell believes the SEC will break its recent streak, Elliott and Patterson expressed skepticism, citing superior quarterback play in other conferences, specifically mentioning programs like Oregon, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

In separate preseason projections, analyst David Pollack identified Oregon as his pick to win the CFP title, noting the team's veteran core. Pollack's projected 12-team field includes five SEC teams—Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Alabama—alongside Big Ten representatives Indiana and Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Texas Tech, and Boise State.
