College football offensive line performances analyzed

College football offensive lines are seeing varying levels of success early in the season. Virginia Tech’s offensive line has emerged as a significant strength, currently ranked as the fifth highest-graded unit in college football according to Pro Football Network’s advanced metrics. The Hokies, who are 3-0, recently secured a dominant win over Maryland, ending a long non-conference road losing streak against Power Four opponents. However, concerns remain regarding the health of left tackle Justin Terry, who left the Maryland game on crutches with a lower-leg injury.

Ole Miss has also maintained an undefeated 3-0 start, though their offensive line performance has been more inconsistent. While the unit has limited sacks allowed, including a strong showing against Louisville, they faced significant challenges against LSU. Pro Football Focus grades indicated struggles for several linemen during the LSU game, with some players receiving low pass-blocking grades. Despite these cracks in protection, the Rebels' run game has remained productive, averaging 159 yards per game.
