College football programs emerge as early season contenders

Several college football programs are emerging as significant contenders during the 2026 season. The Nebraska Cornhuskers remain undefeated following victories over Michigan State and Maryland, marking their best start since 2016. The program has shown improved stability in its offensive line and defensive play under Matt Rhule.

In the top rankings, the Miami Hurricanes hold a 5-0 record and earned an 'A' grade following a dominant 41-13 win over Clemson, led by quarterback Darian Mensah. The Ohio State Buckeyes sit at 4-1 with a 'B+' grade; while wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has recorded 823 yards and nine touchdowns through five weeks, the team faces challenges regarding offensive consistency and a recent loss to Texas.
