Miami Hurricanes defeat Pittsburgh 52-23 in dominant No. 1 ranking debut

The No. 1 ranked Miami Hurricanes secured a decisive 52-23 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers, marking their first game as the nation's top-ranked team in nearly 24 years. Playing in throwback 2001 championship uniforms, Miami dominated the contest, fueled by standout performances from quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Malachi Toney.

Mensah completed 31 of 37 passes for 387 yards and four touchdowns. Toney set a school record with 16 receptions for 194 yards and three touchdowns, while also surpassing the 2,000-yard career receiving milestone. Javian Mallory contributed two rushing touchdowns in the win.

Pittsburgh, playing without starting quarterback Mason Heintschel, struggled to contain the Hurricanes' offense. Pitt's Holden Geriner completed 18 of 32 passes for 268 yards and one touchdown in the loss. The victory keeps Miami undefeated at 7-0 and atop the Atlantic Coast Conference.
