Collegiate athletics report diverse season opener results

Various collegiate athletic programs reported results from their recent season openers and conference matches.

In men's ice hockey, No. 7 Quinnipiac secured a dominant 10-2 victory over New Hampshire at a sold-out M&T Bank Arena. Ethan Wyttenbach led the Bobcats with three points, while Chris Pelosi scored twice. The performance marked the most goals for Quinnipiac in a season opener since 2013. In another matchup, UMD men's hockey defeated Long Island 7-4 after overcoming an early deficit.

In women's soccer, Buffalo State defeated SUNY Morrisville 4-1, highlighted by two goals from Olivia Kilmer. Manhattan University played to a 1-1 draw against Merrimack, with Olivia McMaster scoring early for the Jaspers.

Volleyball results included Siena sweeping Iona 3-0 to move above the .500 mark, while Syracuse fell to SMU in a 3-0 sweep. St. Lawrence defeated RIT 3-0 in a Liberty League match, though RIT secured a 3-0 win over Potsdam in a separate contest. Additionally, St. Lawrence's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Clarkson.

In field hockey, Dartmouth defeated UC Davis 3-1 behind two goals from Ruby Walsh. Meanwhile, the University of Vermont is preparing to host Queens.
