College of Arts and Letters announces 29 faculty promotions
The College of Arts and Letters has announced that 29 faculty members have received promotions. These achievements will be formally celebrated during the 2026-27 academic year through ceremonies hosted by the Office of the Provost.
This year's group of promoted faculty is notable for being the first to include members from the School of Residential Community-Engaged Arts and Humanities (RCAH), which integrated with the College of Arts and Letters on July 1, 2026. Dean Thomas Stubblefield noted that the promotions recognize the expertise, creativity, and leadership faculty bring to the college and their respective fields.
Among those promoted to Professor is John Aerni-Flessner of the School of Residential Community-Engaged Arts and Humanities. Aerni-Flessner is a historian of Africa and a member of the African Studies Center, with research focusing on the history of borders, development, and relations between South Africa and Lesotho.
