College volleyball teams Murray State and IU Indy suffer season opening losses

In opening volleyball action, Murray State and IU Indy both suffered losses. Murray State went 0-2 at the USI Invitational in Evansville, Indiana. The Racers lost 3-1 to host Southern Indiana, despite winning the second set 25-16. Anne Makowski led Murray State with 30 total kills across the day. The Racers also fell 3-0 to Northern Illinois in their second match.

In a separate season opener, IU Indy lost 3-1 to San Diego State at Alaska Airlines Arena. IU Indy took the first set 25-23 behind kills from Jillian Tippmann and service from Laura Roeder, but San Diego State won the subsequent three sets to secure the victory.
