College women's soccer season openers feature Georgia tie and North Florida loss

The University of Georgia women's soccer team opened its 32nd season with a 0-0 scoreless tie against Illinois. Despite being outshot 10-9, Georgia maintained a defensive presence, with sophomore Hannah Folliard recording three saves. The Bulldogs showed more aggression in the second half, outshooting the Illini 6-3, but were unable to convert scoring opportunities.

In a separate season opener, the University of North Florida women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Georgia Southern. North Florida took an early lead in the 13th minute through a goal by Paige McSwigan, assisted by Skya Horth. However, Georgia Southern equalized in the 53rd minute and secured the victory with a late goal in the 84th minute.
