College women's soccer season openers see wins for Elon and Campbell

In women's college soccer season openers, Elon University and Campbell University secured victories while Longwood University suffered a loss.

Elon University defeated VCU 4-1. Talia Feigin opened the scoring for the Phoenix, followed by two goals from Ava Hellner, including a penalty kick. Freshman Nicole Kleyner also scored her first career goal. The win extends Elon's unbeaten streak in season openers to 16 games.

Campbell University defeated Longwood University 2-0. Avery Garrett scored in the 40th minute, and Ava Kanaar added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute. Longwood goalkeeper Brynn Clagett made seven saves in her collegiate debut, but the Lancers were unable to overcome Campbell's defense.
