College women's soccer: UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara suffer losses

In recent women's soccer action, UC Davis fell 1-0 to Santa Clara in a nonconference match. Lexie Douglass scored the decisive goal for the Broncos in the ninth minute. Despite being outshot 18-6, UC Davis goalkeeper Piper Wilkison recorded four saves to keep the match competitive. The Aggies had a final opportunity to equalize in the closing seconds, but a free kick by Sydney Bushman failed to find the net.

Meanwhile, UC Santa Barbara suffered its first loss of the season, falling 2-0 to California Baptist. Although the Gauchos outshot the Lancers, they were unable to convert their chances. California Baptist took an early lead in the tenth minute and doubled their advantage in the second half. UC Santa Barbara is scheduled to face UC Davis this coming Sunday.
