Collegiate athletics: George Washington and Georgetown secure wins

George Washington University tennis athletes competed in the Blue and Gold Invite hosted by Navy. Karen Verduzco reached the singles flight B finals, finishing as runner-up after a 6-7, 5-7 loss. Alexandra Lindqvist secured the B flight consolation title following four consecutive wins. The team recorded a total of 19 wins over the three-day event.

At the SMC Open hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland, Georgetown University sailing teams secured first and second place overall. Despite strong winds and a Nor'easter affecting other East Coast events, Georgetown's Hoyas 4 won the A Division, while Hoyas 1 won the B Division. The Hoyas 4 team, skippered by Owen Kohut and crewed by Sophia Skrivanich, finished 19 points ahead of the nearest competitor.
