Collegiate athletics: Montreat cross country runner-up and Methodist volleyball setbacks

Montreat College women's cross country secured a runner-up finish at the Bruins XC Night Classic hosted by Bob Jones University. Competing in a 4k race against a 12-team field, the Cavaliers finished with 96 points, 13 points ahead of Mars Hill University. Senior Macy Parks led the team with a second-place finish, setting a new modern-day program record with a time of 14:51. Carlyn Bobo also broke a previous program record by finishing fourth in 15:00.

In volleyball, Methodist University faced setbacks during the Covenant Classic. The Monarchs suffered two 3–0 set losses, falling first to Rhodes College and subsequently to host Covenant College. Despite several rallies during the matches, Methodist concluded the opening weekend with a 0–3 record.
