Collegiate cross country teams open season with top finishes
Collegiate cross country teams from Lamar University and LSU New Orleans opened their seasons with notable performances at recent regional meets.
At the McNeese Season Opener, Lamar University’s men’s and women’s teams both secured third-place finishes. The women’s team scored 48 points on a 3,000-meter course, led by Ashton Rainey, who placed fourth. The men’s team recorded 65 points in the 5K event, with Adrian Hahn Vadstein finishing as the top runner for the Cardinals in ninth place.
At the Battle for New Orleans, LSU New Orleans’ men’s and women’s programs both finished in fourth place. On the men’s side, Landen Juneau led the Privateers with a personal-best time of 15:41.6. The women’s team was led by Petra Imre, who finished 12th with a time of 14:36.3, marking one of the fastest 4K times in the program's history.
