Collegiate soccer matches end in draws for NNU and Cal Poly

In recent collegiate soccer action, Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) and Cal Poly Humboldt played to a 2-2 draw. Alex Barragan opened the scoring for the Nighthawks in the 28th minute, but Shota Lam equalized for Humboldt shortly after the second half began. NNU regained the lead via a Caleb Putney penalty kick, though Dominik Chipp scored for Humboldt in the 85th minute to secure the draw. NNU remains without a win for the season, holding a 0-0-3 record.

In women’s soccer, the Cal Poly Mustangs secured a 0-0 draw against Cal at Edwards Stadium. Despite being outshot 16-2, the Mustangs' defense and goalkeeper Shannon Porubski preserved the shutout. Porubski notably saved a penalty kick from Emelia Warta in the 17th minute. This result marks the Mustangs' first scoreless draw on Cal’s home pitch since 2009.
