College soccer season begins with diverse results across US programs
The 2026 college soccer season has commenced with various results across men's and women's programs.
In women's soccer, Saint Mary's secured a 3-0 victory over UC Davis, led by goals from Zoe Maikaiconnecting on a deflected shot and Ashlyn Vaughn's 25-yard chip. Conversely, UC Davis fell 3-1 to Sacramento State in their opener. Northwestern women's soccer prepares to host Syracuse following a 3-1 loss to Virginia, while the University of Utah women's team holds a 1-0-1 record after a 2-0 win over Utah Valley. Oregon State women also secured their first win with a 5-0 victory over Bushnell, and Seattle University shut out Montana 4-0.
In men's soccer, Georgetown enters its season as a top-ranked program, scheduled to host North Carolina. Utah Valley earned a 2-1 win over Pacific in the Tigers' first match under new head coach Andres Ochoa. Wisconsin's men's team delivered a dominant 5-0 shutout against Saint Mary's, while BYU women's soccer suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Wisconsin after conceding a late penalty. Additionally, UMass women's soccer opened with a 1-0 shutout against NJIT.
