Collegiate athletics kick off 2026 season across the United States

Various collegiate athletic programs across the United States have commenced their 2026 seasons. In volleyball, the No. 25 Oregon Ducks secured a straight-set sweep against Western Kentucky. Alabama opened its season with a 3-1 victory over Samford, while the University of North Texas defeated CSU Bakersfield. Other notable results include UT Tyler's two victories at the Mulerider Invitational, including a win over No. 12 Central Oklahoma, and South Carolina's 3-0 sweep of UNCG. Boise State earned a win against UNC Asheville, and Louisiana Tech secured its first win of the year with a 1-0 soccer victory over Houston Christian.

In football, South Carolina State is scheduled to open its season against Savannah State. Additionally, regional events in North Alabama include the SkyDog: The Shoals Experience music festival and various community workshops and concerts.
