Collegiate volleyball teams prepare for Texas tournaments

Several collegiate volleyball teams are preparing for upcoming tournament play in Texas.

The Texas Woman's University (TWU) volleyball team enters the Lone Star Conference Challenge in San Antonio with a three-match winning streak. Following an upset victory against No. 15 Central Oklahoma, the Pioneers are scheduled to face St. Mary's on September 10 and UT Tyler on September 11 at Bill Greehey Arena. TWU's Alyssa Rojo recently earned Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Portland State University's volleyball team will compete in the Red Raider Classic, facing three Texas-based programs. The Vikings are scheduled to play Prairie View A&M and UTRGV on Thursday, followed by a match against host Texas Tech on Friday. The team enters the tournament following a 3-0 sweep of Murray State.
