Collegiate volleyball teams UCF, Utah, and Tennessee secure opening weekend sweeps
Several major collegiate volleyball programs concluded successful opening weekends with dominant performances.
UCF Volleyball secured two victories, sweeping Stony Brook in three sets and defeating Robert Morris in four. Key contributors for the Knights included Sasha Cohen, who recorded 10 blocks in the win against Robert Morris, and Avah Armour, who surpassed 30 points for the third time in her career.
Utah Volleyball achieved its third consecutive sweep of the season by defeating Oregon State (25-19, 25-20, 25-20). This marked the first time for the program since 2000 that the team opened a season with three straight opponent sweeps. During the match, Kamryn Gibadlo reached a career milestone of 100 aces.
No. 22 Tennessee volleyball also finished its opening weekend with a sweep over Fairfield (27-25, 25-23, 25-12). Kennedi Rogers led the Lady Vols with a double-double, recording 21 kills and 10 digs.
