Collegiate women's soccer: Boston University, Northeastern, and UMBC secure victories
Several women's collegiate soccer matches concluded this Sunday with notable victories across different programs.
Boston University secured a dominant 5-1 win against UAlbany. Jaiden Schultz led the Terriers with two goals, supported by scoring efforts from Kat Slott, Juliana Osterman, and Georgia Prouty.
Northeastern University earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Merrimack. Freshman Ava Gialanella scored the opening goal via a penalty kick, while Ella McGee added a second goal before the half ended. Goalkeeper Eliza Teplow recorded four saves to maintain the clean sheet.
In another matchup, UMBC defeated American 2-1. Olivia Nardone opened the scoring for the Retrievers in the first half, and Brooke Clagettin scored the second goal early in the second half. American managed a late goal through a penalty kick by Bella Miller.
In a separate season opener, Northeastern also recorded a 1-0 win against Boston University. Claire Murray, returning from a season-ending injury, scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute.
