Collegiate women's soccer: Menlo and Cal Poly suffer narrow losses
In recent women's collegiate soccer action, Menlo College and Cal Poly both suffered narrow defeats.
Menlo College fell to the 10th-ranked Cal State San Marcos. The Cougars secured a victory through two set pieces, including an early penalty kick by Karli Sikes and a goal following a cross that hit the crossbar. Menlo goalkeeper Caroline Cordes recorded five saves during the match.
Cal Poly dropped to a four-way tie for third in the Big West standings following a 1-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton. The Titans scored in the seventh minute from a corner kick. Cal Poly struggled offensively, being outshot 15-7, and continues to deal with the absence of senior midfielder Sophia Minnite due to a knee injury.
