Colli di Luni viticulturists face unusually early grape harvest
In the Colli di Luni region, viticulturists are facing an unusually early grape harvest due to intense summer heat. Fabio Lambruschi, owner of the Ottaviano Lambruschi agricultural company, noted that the heat has persisted since June, with only brief rainfall in late July.
Lambruschi observed that the harvest timeline has shifted significantly compared to previous decades. While he recalls harvests typically beginning in mid-September, the current season has seen operations starting as early as August 24. The harvesting strategy involves working from the low-lying plains toward the hills to mitigate risks from potential rainfall, concluding with the cooler, higher vineyards.
