Collibra acquires trail ML to automate AI governance

Collibra has acquired Munich-based startup trail ML to enhance its AI governance capabilities. The acquisition aims to automate compliance with frameworks such as the EU AI Act, ISO 42001, and the NIST risk framework. trail ML’s technology utilizes agents to determine applicable rules for AI systems, verify control effectiveness, and block actions that violate established policies at the runtime layer.

In a separate development in the enterprise AI sector, Cohere has updated its North agent harness, now referred to as North 2. The update focuses on improving security and consistency for business automation. Key features include the introduction of skills, libraries, and automations to facilitate standardized operating procedures, shared knowledge bases, and customizable templates. The platform also incorporates memory to maintain context across multiple sessions and implements stricter access controls to mitigate risks associated with autonomous agents.
