Collin Gosselin to release memoir amid family estrangement

Kate Gosselin is reportedly nervous regarding the upcoming October 13 release of a memoir by her estranged son, Collin Gosselin. Titled ‘In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood’, the book promises to detail his experiences growing up within the family’s reality television spotlight.

Collin, 22, has been estranged from Kate since 2016, when she placed him in a behavioral health institution at age 11 following allegations of violent behavior. Collin has contested these claims, asserting that the institutionalization was a response to his refusal to participate in the family’s TLC reality shows. He has since reunited with his father, Jon Gosselin, who secured his release and subsequent custody.

Sources close to the family suggest that Kate views children who discuss their past as ‘traitors’. Collin has stated that the writing process served as a form of therapy and that he is not the one who should be nervous about the publication.
