Collins Aerospace expands US manufacturing for aviation and defense

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is implementing significant manufacturing expansions at two United States facilities to meet rising demand in the aviation and defense sectors.

In West Des Moines, Iowa, the company is expanding its engine components plant by 14,000 square feet. This multi-million-dollar investment focuses on advanced fuel distribution systems and maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for commercial and military platforms. The site currently ships over 25,000 engine nozzles monthly and is expected to add new roles by the end of 2026 and into 2027.

In Largo, Florida, a $26.5 million expansion is underway to increase the production of Condor Mk3 and ASR-XM radar systems. This project supports a $438 million Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contract to replace aging air traffic control infrastructure. The expansion is expected to be completed by 2026 and will add approximately 100 new jobs to the facility, which currently employs nearly 800 people.
