Collins Owusu Amankwah urges Bawumia to confirm NAPO as running mate

Former Manhyia North Member of Parliament Collins Owusu Amankwah has called on New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to officially confirm Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, as his running mate for the 2028 general election.

Amankwah argued that an immediate announcement would allow the party to move past internal speculation and begin marketing a united ticket to the electorate. He noted that the party has already stabilized its grassroots structure and elected its flagbearer, leaving only national executive elections to be completed.

The former lawmaker warned that delaying the decision could foster unnecessary tension and division, as various individuals currently lobby for the vice-presidential position. Amankwah emphasized that finalizing the ticket is essential for the NPP to demonstrate its readiness to govern and to launch an aggressive campaign across the country.
