Collioure named France's favorite village for 2024
Collioure, a coastal town in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of France, has been named the ‘village préféré des Français’ (favorite village of the French) for 2024 during a program hosted by Stéphane Bern on France 3.
The town is recognized for its unique combination of Mediterranean coastline, historical heritage, and scenic landscapes. Located approximately 24 km from Perpignan in the Occitanie region, Collioure features a landscape defined by the schist cliffs of the Albères massif and its proximity to the sea.
Historically a destination for artists drawn to its specific light and coastal views, the town maintains a modest population of approximately 2,756 residents. Visitors often describe the area as a peaceful, artistic haven characterized by pastel-colored alleyways, cobbled streets, and a blend of Catalan culture and seaside scenery.
