Collioure to use drone for fireworks security

During the Saint-Vincent festivals in Collioure, the Pyrénées-Orientales departmental gendarmerie will deploy a drone to ensure public safety during the fireworks display on Sunday, August 16. The drone will operate from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM to provide aerial surveillance and support ground units in monitoring the event, which has previously attracted approximately 120,000 attendees.

The aerial tool is intended to provide a global view of the situation to prevent disturbances to public order and ensure the safety of people and property. Officials stated that the drone is managed by an operator who can signal incidents in real time, functioning similarly to a soldier on the ground.
