Colloredo Castle Nears Reopening After 1976 Earthquake Restoration
Regional infrastructure assessor Cristina Amirante marked the raising of the traditional licôf flag at the Colloredo Castle site as the symbolic end of the most demanding phase of the reconstruction work. The ceremony celebrates the progress made in restoring the historic manor, which was heavily damaged in the 1976 Friuli earthquake.
The reopening of the Ala Nievo wing is scheduled for mid‑September, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the earthquake. Officials say the restored castle will reinforce regional identity, boost tourism, and highlight Friuli Venezia Giulia’s post‑disaster recovery achievements.
