Colón infrastructure projects advance with major road and coastal works

Infrastructure development in Panama's Colón province is advancing through several major projects. The Caribbean Corridor, a 28.4-kilometer road connecting the Panama–Colón Highway to Costa Arriba communities, has reached 51% physical progress. This $80 million project includes a two-lane asphalt road, seven bridges, a viaduct, and drainage systems designed to reduce travel times and boost tourism.

In the Nuevo Chagres district, a new coastal belt project valued at over $102,000 is set to begin. The development will feature a 201-meter seaside walkway, six commercial spaces for entrepreneurs, a food court, parking, and a park. The project aims to stimulate local economic activity and is expected to be completed by late December using local labor.

Other regional works include the rehabilitation of 53 urban streets, with an additional $8 million being processed to include 80 more roads, and improvements to the Transístmica highway to enhance logistical safety.
