Colón Mayor José Luis Walser remains silent in embezzlement probe

José Luis Walser, the mayor of Colón, along with his wife, private secretary Gimena Bordet, and Government Secretary Mariano Bravo, appeared before prosecutor Alejandro Perroud at the Colón Fiscal Unit. All three individuals exercised their right to remain silent during the proceedings.

The investigation stems from a December 2025 traffic accident in Brazil involving the mayor, his family, and an official vehicle. Walser and his wife face charges of alleged embezzlement (peculado). Gimena Bordet is accused of being a necessary participant in the same crime, while Mariano Bravo is charged with concealment and failure to report the incident.

Defense attorney Marcos Rodríguez Allende stated that the appearance was a procedural requirement to review the evidence held by the prosecution. He noted that the officials will testify once they have had the opportunity to fully study the case files.
