Colón, Mexico inaugurates new synthetic football field in San Vicente

The municipality of Colón opened a 5,500‑square‑metre synthetic football field in the San Vicente community, a project that cost 5 million 570 thousand 200 pesos. Mayor Gaspar Trueba Moncada led the ceremony, highlighting the work as a promise kept to residents.

Construction involved excavating 2,565 m³ of type‑B material and 285 m³ of type‑C material, installing 619 m³ of compacted hydraulic base, and laying the synthetic turf with 6,176 m² of irrigation‑impregnation. Drainage features include 256 m of culverts, two rainwater channels and 440 m² of coconut‑geotextile to protect slopes. Local officials and community leader Baltazar León said the field is already used for league matches and for families to walk and exercise.

The mayor also announced an upcoming road‑expansion project toward El Ahorcado to improve connectivity for residents traveling to neighboring Pedro Escobedo.
