Colón residents protest public space use and sewage failures

Residents and business owners in Colón are raising concerns regarding local infrastructure and the use of public spaces.

In one instance, neighbors have protested the installation of an open-air restaurant at the intersection of streets 47 and 17. The establishment has occupied a former green space with tents, tables, and a grill. Critics are questioning whether the municipal executive branch granted the necessary authorizations and if the local council debated any specific ordinances to allow private commercial exploitation of the public area.

Separately, a sanitary crisis has emerged on 44th Street, between 12th Street and Plaza Paso. A sewage network collapse has caused effluent to overflow from sidewalks into nearby businesses, many of which are food establishments. Affected residents and merchants have criticized Aguas Bonaerenses S.A. (ABSA) for a lack of maintenance and are demanding urgent structural repairs to address the recurring issue.
