Cologne court sentences mother and daughter for Mallorca murder plot

The Cologne District Court has sentenced a 36-year-old woman and her 62-year-old mother to four and a half years in prison each for attempting to incite the murder of the woman's husband.

The plot, which took place in September 2025, was motivated by an intense dispute regarding child custody and financial matters. While the daughter remained in Frechen, Germany, her mother traveled to Sa Torre, Mallorca, to arrange the killing.

A local restaurateur in Mallorca acted as an intermediary but set a trap for the defendants. He accepted a total of 5,000 euros—including a 1,000 euro down payment—and received photos and the victim's address, but he recorded the meetings and alerted the husband instead of carrying out the hit.

The court found the daughter's involvement proven through extensive chat communications between her and her mother, noting she was “more or less live” during the planning process.
