Cologne Johanneskirche to host matinee for Hanns Dieter Hüsch centenary

The Beatmesse community in Cologne is organizing a matinee on May 25, 2025, to commemorate the 100th birthday of the late cabaret artist and voice actor Hanns Dieter Hüsch. Hüsch, who was closely associated with the Johanneskirche in Cologne-Sülz, was known for his sermons and performances that focused on social justice and democracy.

The event will feature several performers, including the RUḤAMA trio and singer-songwriter Konstantin Wecker, who will perform songs by Hüsch. The program will also include an electronic organ, similar to the one Hüsch used during his appearances. Additionally, the community has announced the next Beatmesse, scheduled for September 28, 2025, featuring Pater Anselm Grün.
