Cologne-Gremberg motorcycle crash leaves two dead
Two people were killed and another was seriously injured following a motorcycle collision in Cologne-Gremberg during the night of Sunday, August 9. The incident occurred on the Östliche Zubringerstraße (L124) between the Am Grauen Stein and Kalk/Poll junctions.
According to witness reports, the motorcyclists were traveling at very high speeds and overtaking cars on the right side of the road before colliding on the main lane. The 27-year-old driver of a Honda died at the scene, while his 26-year-old passenger later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. A 33-year-old driver of a Kawasaki Ninja was also involved and remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
Cologne police have launched an investigation into the incident under the suspicion of an illegal vehicle race. Authorities conducted forensic work and temporarily closed the L124, which has since been reopened to traffic.
