Cologne region announces weekly cultural and historical events

The Cologne region features several cultural events scheduled for the week of August 11, 2026, including musical performances, historical tours, and literary programs.

At the Altenberger Dom, two organ events are scheduled. On Thursday, August 13, participants from the International Organ Academy for Improvisation will host an improvisation evening. On Sunday, August 16, organist Gabriele Studer will perform a program spanning four centuries, including works by Bach, Prokofiev, and Cochera. Both events offer free admission.

Historical interest is highlighted by a guided tour of the Deutz district led by Dr. Thomas van Nies on Saturday, August 15. The tour explores the area's history from Roman times to its modern significance. Additionally, a matinee titled ‘Schattenwald’ featuring organ and electronic music by Sarah Proske is scheduled for Sunday, August 16, at the Martin-Luther-Kirche in Köln-Wahn-Heide.
