Cologne to host street festival and dialect celebration in September 2026
Cologne will host two major cultural events in September 2026. The traditional street festival ‘Dä Längste Desch vun Kölle’ is scheduled for the third weekend of the month, on September 19 and 20. Located in the Severinstraße district, the festival will feature approximately 120 vendors, artisans, and gastronomic stalls. On Sunday, September 20, local shops will participate in a special shopping day from 13:00 to 18:00.
Additionally, the third ‘Daach der kölschen Sproch’ (Day of the Cologne Language) will take place on September 27, 2026. Organized with the support of Mayor Torsten Burmester, the event aims to celebrate the city's dialect and identity through more than 60 activities across Cologne. The program includes guided tours, readings, workshops, and concerts. A special program at the Historical Town Hall will commemorate the 150th birthdays of Konrad Adenauer and Willi Ostermann.
