Colombia and Japan advance trade agreement negotiations

Colombia and Japan are working to reactivate negotiations for an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) to strengthen bilateral ties. During a visit to Tokyo, Colombian Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Mauricio Gómez Amín met with Japanese Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry Toshiro Ino to establish an agenda aimed at concluding the trade deal.

The proposed agreement seeks to expand opportunities in agroindustry, investment, and technology transfer. Additionally, Gómez met with Hiroshi Nanbu, President of Business Planning and Operations at Toyota, to encourage the automotive giant to expand its presence in Colombia. Discussions focused on the assembly of hybrid and electric vehicles, the development of charging infrastructure, and the strengthening of local supplier networks.
