Colombia and Mexico Expand Student Scholarship Support
In Ibarra, Colombia, the municipal scholarship program is completing its monitoring phase for 319 beneficiaries of the 2025‑2026 cycle. Each student received a USD 470 stipend for education, transport and health needs, with the program funded by a $150,000 budget and plans to increase to $162,000 for the next period, prioritising students from public schools. The technical commission, led by secretary Andrés Domínguez, verifies invoices, academic certificates and expense receipts.
In Mexico, the federal Rita Cetina and Benito Juárez scholarships, part of the Bienestar program, provide a bimonthly 1,900‑peso aid to public‑school students. During the summer break, only primary‑school students who registered for the Rita Cetina scholarship in March will receive an additional 2,500‑peso payment for uniforms and supplies, plus an extra 700 pesos for each additional child in the household. Regular payments are expected to resume in October 2026 after the vacation period.
