Colombia and Mexico open military recruitment for youth

The Colombian National Army announced a new recruitment drive in the Norte de Santander region, accepting applications from Colombian citizens aged 18 to 24 without criminal, disciplinary or administrative records. The campaign, overseen by Major Christian Geovany González Aldana, offers 410 slots for men and 31 for women, with benefits that include a legal minimum wage, housing, food, uniforms, health care and pension contributions. Training for selected recruits will begin between August 28 and 29 and will last three months.

In Mexico, the army extended the deadline for obtaining the military service card (Cartilla Militar) until August 15. The extension applies to men born in 2007, as well as voluntary women, in the central‑desert region. Interested individuals must present themselves at the 105th Infantry Battalion in Frontera, Coahuila, where the documents will be processed during specified office hours. The military emphasized the importance of the service card for personal, academic and employment procedures.
