Colombia announces 8 million school vacancies nationwide

Colombia's Ministry of National Education has launched the ‘El Cole es tu lugar’ campaign, announcing that more than 8 million school vacancies are available for children, adolescents, and young people across the country. The initiative aims to promote enrollment and school retention, covering educational stages from early childhood (starting at age 3) through secondary education.

In Bogotá, the Secretary of Education has outlined the second phase of the enrollment and transfer process for the 2027 academic year. From October 5 until December 23, 2026, the general population can apply for spots in public schools through a free, virtual process. Families can consult available options and submit requests via the official Bogotá education portal to ensure students can enter the public system or continue their studies.
