Colombia announces new National Police Director and Army Brigade commander
Colombia has implemented several high-level changes within its military and police leadership. General Jesús Alejandro Barrera Peña has been appointed as the new Director of the National Police. With a 35-year career focused on intelligence and criminal investigation, Barrera Peña intends to create integrated public force blocks to strengthen security in major cities and combat armed groups.
In the Army, Colonel Freddy Hernán Mora Rojas has assumed command of the XII Brigade at the “Juanambú” Military Canton in Florencia. Mora Rojas, an infantry officer with extensive experience in anti-narcotics and combat battalions, will lead security and defense efforts across 16 municipalities in the Caquetá department. He succeeds Brigadier General Sergio Armando Guzmán Jaimes.
