Colombia appoints Juan Carlos Vélez Uribe as ambassador to Ecuador
Juan Carlos Vélez Uribe has been appointed as the new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Colombia to Ecuador. The decision was made by President Abelardo De la Espriella.
Vélez Uribe is a lawyer and former senator with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, having served as a Medellín councilman, director of Aerocivil, and president of trade associations such as ANATO and Fendipetróleo. His mission in Quito will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation, commercial ties, border security, and the protection of Colombian nationals in Ecuador.
