Colombia authorities investigate alleged assassination plot against National Registrar

Colombian government authorities are investigating a potential plot to assassinate the National Registrar of Civil Status, Hernán Penagos. The alert reportedly originated from a prison, where an inmate claimed to have specific details regarding an eventual attack.

Minister of Justice Iván Cancino has shared the information with President Abelardo De la Espriella, Acting Vice Prosecutor General Gilberto Guerrero, and Penagos himself.
